What Are Pen-Based Smart Board Models?
With the continuous advancement of technology in recent times, smart board models used effectively in schools and educational systems offer various types of services. These include: pen-based models, resistive surface systems, capacitive surface systems, infrared systems, and camera-based systems. Their use in all schools provides many benefits and advantages for both students and teachers. These models operate with the help of ultrasonic sound waves. In pen-based smart board models, a device is placed at the corners of the boards, and it works with a digital pen that communicates via sound waves. When pressure is applied to the tip of this battery-powered pen, it starts emitting sound waves. Simultaneously, the device detects these emitted sound waves to determine the pen's location and, by detecting its movement in this way, enables the board to be used.
What to Know About Pen-Based Boards
Pen-based smart board models do not have touch-sensitive surfaces, and you can use the device on a flat wall or another suitable surface whenever you wish. While these aspects offer advantages over other models, they also have disadvantages. Since the pens are battery-operated, the batteries need to be replaced at regular intervals. However, if the pen breaks or gets lost, the systems become unusable, and a new pen must be purchased promptly.
